The Baker
Living in the Pocono Mountains was lovely. However, being gluten intolerant was difficult with the limited resources in the area. One day driving down a country road in the village of Hamlin, I was shocked to see a small bakery with exclusively gluten free products. I made a quick U-turn to be greeted by jolly smiles and welcoming words. Ah, tables and fresh coffee brews with a savory choice of breads, cupcakes, and pastries. One day, Dan the owner and I were small talking and he asked what I do.
Before you know it, I was back in his small factory with the smell of dough in the background. His dream was to go big! To have his products in Whole Foods or Trader Joes would make his baked goods available to all.
I so enjoyed coaching him. As payment, I got a bag full of bread and goodies. The story ends happily. You can find his products in many stores throughout the USA. And YES, in Whole foods!
Today, every time I eat a Three Bakers product, I think of Dan and those days in his then little factory, and exchanging bread for knowledge.
